You will need to have a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL) in order to do business in the firearms industry which means that you will need to complete an FFL license application. This has been a legal requirement per the Gun Control Act of 1968 which was enacted in the United States of America. The entire licensing system is overseen by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and once you obtain your license from them it is valid for three years. Then, it must be renewed for another three years. Don’t wait too long to apply for your FFL because you cannot do business selling firearms and ammunition without it.

You may want to use one of the many FFL kits that are available to you online that provide you with all the necessary information you will need to fill out your application. Or, you may decide to do the necessary research and complete the requirements yourself. Either way, there is quite a bit of background legwork that you will have to do before submitting your application to the BATFE. Your main goal is to find the right tools and then do whatever it takes to make sure that you have all the requirements fulfilled. Be sure that your application is filled out as truthfully as possible so that it is not denied because of inaccurate or inconclusive information.

The best way to buy your firearms at wholesale is to obtain your FFL license and become a certified gun dealer. Then, you will be able to establish your own business and be able to sell guns to your friends, family and customers. You will save an extraordinary amount of money because you will be able to purchase firearms at very low wholesale prices and then put whatever retail price on them that you want.

Once your FFL license application has been approved by the BATFE, you will be able to engage in a business pertaining to the manufacture of firearms and ammunition or the interstate or intrastate sale of firearms. The FFL license is absolutely required and must be posted in your business at the location where the business is located. It is not valid for any other firearms businesses that you might open in the future. Each location needs its own separate Federal Firearms License.

In order to be in the business of dealing in, manufacturing, or importing firearms or manufacturing or importing ammunition, you are required per the Gun Control Act to obtain a Federal Firearms License. The licensing system is administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agency. If you want to be a firearms dealer with a firearms license, you must be defined as, “a person who is engaged in the business of selling firearms at wholesale or retail, repairing firearms, or making or fitting special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms” or “a person who is a pawnbroker”. You do not need to get an FFL License Application if you “make occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or you sell all or part of your personal collection of firearms” or you are “a person who makes occasional repairs or who occasionally fits special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms”.

There are certain regulations that must be met when you are applying for a firearms license. The Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency will approve an applicant if he or she:

• Is at least 21 years old.
• Is not prohibited from shipping, transporting, receiving or possessing firearms or ammunition.
• Has not willfully violated the Gun Control Act or its regulations.
• Has not willfully failed to disclose material information or willfully made false statements concerning material facts in connection with his or her application.
• Has premises (which can be his or her home) for conducting business or collecting for C&R; and the applicant certifies that:

1. The business to be conducted under the license is not prohibited by State or local law in the place where the licensed premise is located.
2. Within 30 days after the application is approved the business will comply with the requirements of State and local law applicable to the content of the business.
3. The business will not be conducted under the license until the requirements of State and local law applicable to the business have been met.
4. The applicant has sent or delivered a form to the chief law enforcement officer where the premises are located.

All of the above regulations are essential before getting your FFL license application.
