If you want to be a gun dealer, then it is important for you to know the steps necessary on how to get an FFL license. Before you can apply for a Federal Firearms license, you must set up a secure place to conduct your firearms business. Your application for a license will be denied if the ATF finds that you have not established an appropriate and secure place to conduct business. In the secure area, your guns must be stored in an organized manner and they cannot simply be lying around randomly in boxes. You must have them organized in a planned, efficient manner. Everything in your potential place of business must be in order and fully functional before you even think about applying for a license.

When you apply for your FFL you must submit to the BATFE regional office the following: AFT form 7, fee, photograph and fingerprints that you have obtained from a law enforcement agency. Once you are approved for a license, it will be valid for three years at the location that is shown on the license. If you have other business locations, then you will need to apply for a separate license for that location. You cannot transfer your FFL and as a licensee you must comply with all federal record keeping requirements. You will be subject to annual inspections to make sure that you are in complete compliance. If you are asked for specific information from the Secretary of the BATFE, you must respond no later than 24 hours after the request.

The FFL requirements must be followed carefully and it is extremely important that you know how to get an FFL license before actually filling out an application. It is no use sending in an application if you have not met pre-application requirements.

You will need to have a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL) in order to do business in the firearms industry which means that you will need to complete an FFL license application. This has been a legal requirement per the Gun Control Act of 1968 which was enacted in the United States of America. Or, you may decide to do the necessary research and complete the requirements yourself. Either way, there is quite a bit of background legwork that you will have to do before submitting your application to the BATFE. Your main goal is to find the right tools and then do whatever it takes to make sure that you have all the requirements fulfilled. Be sure that your application is filled out as truthfully as possible so that it is not denied because of inaccurate or inconclusive information.

The best way to buy your firearms at wholesale is to obtain your FFL license and become a certified gun dealer. Then, you will be able to establish your own business and be able to sell guns to your friends, family and customers. You will save an extraordinary amount of money because you will be able to purchase firearms at very low wholesale prices and then put whatever retail price on them that you want.

Once your FFL license application has been approved by the BATFE, you will be able to engage in a business pertaining to the manufacture of firearms and ammunition or the interstate or intrastate sale of firearms. The FFL license is absolutely required and must be posted in your business at the location where the business is located. It is not valid for any other firearms businesses that you might open in the future. Each location needs its own separate Federal Firearms License.
